Scribe Insight 6.3.1

Welcome to the Scribe Insight 6.3.1 download page.

Version 6.3.1 provides support for Windows 2003 64-bit Server (running in 32-bit mode), and improvements to the installation and registration process.

Version 6.3.1 builds upon a number of important new features that were added in Scribe Insight 6.3. These new features include,

• New, easy-to-use installation wizard. Installation package now includes both Scribe Insight and all of the Scribe adapters.
• New, easier registration process provides registration code upon input of serial number. Auto-populates customer information.
• A new update manager lets you configure when updates and critical messages for Insight and their adapters are retrieved from Scribe. Scribe products no longer check for updates as they open.
• Adds support for Microsoft .NET 3.0 framework.
• Support for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
• Replaces MSDE with SQL Express for easier Scribe internal database administration.

Adapters

Scribe Insight 6.3.1 is designed to work with the new adapters included as part of its installation. Scribe Insight 6.3.1 does not support adapters available for previous versions of Scribe Insight.

The Scribe Insight 6.3.1 installation includes all of Scribe’s adapters.

Installing Scribe Insight 6.3.1

Before installing Scribe Insight 6.3.1, locate your serial number. Scribe Insight 6.3.1 requires you to register the software and you will need your serial number to register.

Scribe strongly recommends reviewing the release notes before beginning the installation.

If you are upgrading from version 6.3

  If you are running successfully with Scribe Insight 6.3, you may consider not  upgrading to Scribe Insight 6.3.1  – the new features and bug fixes contained in  Scribe Insight 6.3.1 focus primarily on the installation process and support for 64-bit environments (in 32-bit mode). Please refer to the release notes for further information.

Scribe Insight 6.3.1 does not support adapters available for previous versions of Scribe Insight prior to 6.3.1. If you are upgrading Scribe Insight from a version earlier than 6.3.1, you must also upgrade any adapters you have installed.

1.  Back up the SCRIBEINTERNAL database using the appropriate Microsoft SQL Server management tools.

2.  Back up all the files related to your integrations. These could include DTS files, scripts, and .ini files. These are typically saved in C:\Program Files\Scribe\Collaborations\ and its subfolders.

3.  Make a note of the user name and password used by Scribe Insight to connect to the SCRIBEINTERNAL database.

  If you have changed the default password for the SCRIBE user, you will need to know the new password to reconnect to the database when installing Scribe Insight 6.3.1.

      Both the user name and password are case-sensitive.

4.  Continue with the steps for new Scribe Insight installations, below.

5.  Scribe recommends keeping a copy of the downloaded update files in a safe place.

If you are upgrading from version 6.2.2 or earlier

 You are now limited to only one registration of Scribe Insight. If you are currently using more than one registered copy of the software (other than a test/dev license) please contact your Scribe reseller or Scribe salesperson prior to upgrading.

Before upgrading to Scribe Insight 6.3.1 from version 6.2.2 or earlier, uninstall any previous versions of Scribe Insight and any adapters that may already be installed.

Scribe Insight 6.3.1 enforces the software license that allows you to use a serial number on only one Scribe Insight server. Verify that you are not using the same serial number to register more than one Scribe Insight server.

1.  Pause all integration processes, bridges, publishers, and monitors.

2.  Wait for all pending data to be processed by your Scribe Insight server.

3.  Stop the five Scribe services.

4.  Back up the SCRIBEINTERNAL database using the appropriate Microsoft SQL Server management tools.

5.  Back up all the files related to your integrations. These could include DTS files, scripts, .ini files. These are typically saved in C:\Program Files\Scribe\Collaborations\ and its subfolders.

6.  Make a note of the user name and password used by Scribe Insight to connect to the SCRIBEINTERNAL database.

  If you have changed the default password for the SCRIBE user, you will need to know the new password to reconnect to the database when installing Scribe Insight 6.3.1.

      Both the user name and password are case-sensitive.

7.  Uninstall any existing Scribe Insight Server and adapters. Scribe adapters must be uninstalled first.

  From Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

8.  If your SCRIBEINTERNAL database is using Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE), you must upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is included with the Scribe Insight installation.
